HENDERSON-Lula Mary Moss Satterwhite, age 84, a resident of 1245 Park Avenue, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on October 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Moss and Edith Renn Moss, and was the widow of Merrell Carlton Satterwhite.Mrs. Satterwhite was an avid bowler and upholstered furniture for many years in Vance County, and was a former member of Grace Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev.Will Breedlove and Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by four sons, Carlton Satterwhite, Jr. and wife Rose, and Steve Satterwhite and wife Marilyn of Henderson, Doug Satterwhite and wife Carolyn of Kittrell and Glenn Satterwhite of Henderson; one daughter, Brenda S. Lane of Kittrell; one brother, Allen Moss and wife Esther of Henderson; two sisters, Fannie Pendergrass and husband John of Henderson and Betsy Dement of Creedmoor; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Chever; one sister, Rosa Averette; one brother, Ed Moss; one grandchild; and one great grandchild.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 1:30 until 2:45 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Carlton and Rose Satterwhite at 250 Weybossett Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Carlton Satterwhite Jr., Carlton Satterwhite III, Jimmy Waddell, Jimmy Waddell Jr., Greg Brame , John Juntunen, T.J. Satterwhite, and Robbie Ayscue
