Mr. Malcolm A. "Mac" Mangum, Sr., 89, of 2040 Brookrun Road, died Friday, August 23, 2019 at his home.Born in Person Co. on May 26, 1930 he was the son of the late Bernice Cecil "B.C." Mangum and Shirley Mooney Walker. Mac was retired from Universal Leaf North America and was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Mary V. White Sunday School Class, a former member of the Choir and served the Church on several Leadership Positions.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3pm at Flat Rock United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robin Farner and Rev. Keith Nanney. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Hamlin Mangum; one daughter, Mary Susan Williams (Dan) of Henderson; one son, Malcolm A. Mangum, Jr. (DeAnne) of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Spencer Mangum, Anne Mangum, Michelle Foster and Elizabeth Woodall; one great granddaughter Carsyn Foster; two sisters, Sherrill Duncan of St. Johns Island SC and Jane Mangum of Roxboro; four brothers, Whitt Walker of Hillsborough, Conley Mangum, Bill Mangum and John Mangum all of Rougemont. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca W. Long.
The family will receive friends Monday prior to the service from 2 until 3pm at the Flat Rock United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. At other times they will be at the home.
