Marian "Billie" Hicks Twisdale

Marian H. Twisdale HENDERSON- Marian “Billie” Hicks Twisdale, 94, of NC Hwy 39 N, died Monday, January 8, 2024 at her daughter’s home. Born June 24, 1929 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Hicks and Rose Wilson Moss and was the widow of Cephas Lee Twisdale, Jr. She retired from Burlington Industries where she worked as a dyer. She was a member of Nut Bush Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she was active as a Bible School and Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir and was a member of the Women of the Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Nut Bush Presbyterian Church conducted by Perry Twisdale and Rev. Laura Kelly. Mrs. Twisdale is survived by two daughters, Susan T. Flora and Sylvia T. Pegram (Skeet) all of Bailey; a son, Virgil Lee Twisdale (Brenda) of Townsville; six grandchildren, Marian Pegram Rudder (Michael), Renee Twisdale Elliott (Jesse), Christopher Harley Pegram (Marcy), Mandy Pernell Boykin, Regina Twisdale Rooker and Linda Jo Pernell Taylor (Travis); twelve great-grandchildren, Melissa Wells (Jeremy), Blake Elliott (Bree), Sarah Elliott (Cameron), Mialei Rooker, Peyton Rooker, Hannah Hypes (Trevor), Jillian Taylor, Silas Taylor, Grayson Rudder (Haley), Connor Pegram, Kyle Pegram, and Jonathon Boykin; four great great-grandchildren, Camden Wells, Cade Wells, Madilyn Elliott and Emory Smith; a sister, Betsy Moss Reid (Milton) of Chapel Hill; two sisters-in-law, Doris Richardson and Linda Gill (Ricky), both of Henderson; a brother-in-law, Macon Twisdale (Bettye Jo) of Townsville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marian Rose Twisdale; her step-father, E.C. Moss; and a brother, Marvin “Brother” Moss. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Chistopher Pegram, Carl Samford, IV, Pete Richardson, Jr., Dick Twisdale, Lee Twisdale, Bryant Gill, Paul Gill, Mark Richardson, Anthony Twisdale, Jesse Elliott, Michael Rudder, Clay Boykin, Anna Walker, Karen Crews, Debra Smiley, Nancy O’Geary, Shirley Karpf, Patricia Cox, Sandra Ellington, Jeaneen Beckham, Norma Jean Brown, Kim Twisdale, Christy Samford and Gina Dunham. The family would like to thank the staff of 3HC Hospice of Rocky Mount, especially Christy and Ben for their kind and compassionate care, and her loving caregiver, Vanessa Farias. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home.
