HENDERSON-Marie Briggs Roberson, age 83, a resident of Henderson, died Sunday, December 29, 2013, at her home surrounded by loved ones.Born on July 1, 1930 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late John Wester Briggs and Mamie Bobbitt Briggs, and was the widow of former police chief, Kenneth Knight Roberson.She was a retired hairdresserand was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Dale Roberson.
She is survived by one daughter, Claudia R. Hunt and husband, Billy of Henderson; one grandson, Kenneth G. Hunt of Flagstaff, AZ; one great grandson, Andrew Duffee and wife, Julie of Mill Spring, NC; one great great granddaughter, Luna Rose Dufee; her twin sister, Maria Briggs Roberson of Henderson.She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved and assisted in her care and she loved them dearly in return.She also loved her in-laws as much.They were always important to her as well.
The family will receive friends at the home of Claudia and Billy Hunt on Monday from 3 until 8 pm at 1736 Ruin Creek Road.
