HENDERSON- Marilyn Seifert Williams, 86, died Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on November 10, 1928, in Vance County, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Clemens Oscar Seifert and Esther Becker Seifert. She attended Henderson High School where she was both President and Salutatorian of her 1946 graduating class.She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1950. After college, Marilyn taught history for two years at Middleburg High School and devoted the rest of her life to her family and friends.She was a lifelong and active member of The Church of the Holy Innocents.Marilyns greatest joys in life, in addition to her family, were swimming, tennis, singing and following her beloved Boston Red Sox.
A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Holy Innocents on Tuesday November 25, 2014 at 3:00PM conducted by Rev. Donald A. Lowry and Dr. Marion D. Lark.A private burial will be held by the family prior to the service.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, C.G. Williams of the home; her daughter, Lynn Huson and husband Rick of New Bern, NC; her son, Graham, and wife Sara of Garden City, SC; grandson, Matthew Fair, and wife Lindsay of Newport, RI;brother, Donald Seifert and wife Betsy of Henderson; sister-in-law, Sylvia Ann Walker and husband Roy of Whiteville; step granddaughter, Kimberly Zorch and husband Rob of Richmond, VA; step grandson, Mark Huson of Baltimore, MD; a niece and five nephews.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Great Hall of the church and at other times at the home, 370 Hillcrest Drive.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the doctors and nurses in the MPMC Emergency Room, ICU and Medical Unit and to Community Health Care and Hospice for their caring and compassion to both Marilyn and the family during a very difficult time.
