Marjorie Royster Langston, age 88, a resident of Senior Citizens Nursing Home, died Tuesday April 24, 2012.Born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia on May 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Issac Royster and Sarah Sizemore Royster and was the widow of Edwin Wesley Langston, Sr.She was a member of First Congregational Christian Church where she formerly served as a Sunday School teacher in the Womens Sunday School Class, was the President of the Ladies Missionary Circle, and sang in the choir.She was retired from A.R. Perry Glass Company where she worked as a bookkeeper.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at First Congregational Christian Church by the Rev. George Williams.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Edwin Wesley Langston, Jr. of Henderson and David Langston of Hampton, VA.; a daughter, Kathy L. Hobgood of Henderson; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Mack, and Nip Royster and a sister, Pattie Purdue.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 2:00PM at First Congregational Christian Church on Thursday and at other times on Thursday at the home of William and Jonelle Hobgood, 314 Willowood Drive, Henderson. On Wednesday the family will be at the home of Kathy and Bill Hobgood, 102 Quail Ridge, Henderson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Langston, Wes Langston, Paul Gill, William Hobgood, David Hobgood and James Daniel.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Christian Church, 426 Rowland St., Henderson, NC 27536.
