Mark Randall Oakley, age 64, a resident of 794 Abbott Road, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.Born on July 21, 1948 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Clarence Leonard Oakley and Marjorie McIver Oakley.Mr. Oakley was a United States Army Veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam era and was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church.He was medically retired from Revlon and was a former employee of Roses Warehouse.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burgess.Burial with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Oakley is survived by his wife, Gloria Dickerson Oakley of the home; his son, Jonathan Randall Oakley and wife Mary of Henderson; his granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Oakley; his sister, Faye Oakley Pulley of Henderson; and his brother, Jennings Dale Oakley of Henderson.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home, 794 Abbott Road, Henderson.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Youth Fund, 1699 Weldons Mill Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
Serving as pall bearers will be Ray Hilliard, Jr., Cale Hilliard, Chad Pulley, Jason Dickerson, Russell Haithcock, Ted Longmire, and Johnny Tant.
