OXFORD-Martha Anne Barnes Stinson, 75, a resident of 158 Highway, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Granville Medical Center. Born on September 21, 1946 in Stokes County, she was the daughter of the late Albert Garland Barnes and Betsy Coe Barnes Grissett. She was a retired Special Education Instructor for the state of North Carolina, a Ranger/Interpreter for the Army Corps of Engineers at Kerr Lake, and was a radio personality for WIZS Radio Station. She was also a published author, writing the novel River Woman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Nutt. A private burial will follow for the immediate family. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home. She is survived by her husband, David Cornelius Stinson of the home; her children, James Jackson Cable (Evelyn) of Henderson, Elizabeth Cable Poythress (Randy) of Macon, Larry Scott Cable (Debbie) of Creedmoor, Dale Andrew Stinson (Amie) of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and Glen Edward Stinson (Jeri) of Reidsville; her grandchildren, Heather Hicks, Jonathan Grogan, Josh Cable (Hannah), Jenn Cable, Cade Stinson (Sofia), Blake Stinson, Kitts Stinson and Taylor Phipps (Justin); her great grandchildren, Zackary Hargreaves, Kenzie Hicks, Grayson Phipps, Wesley Hicks, Canaan Sutphin, London Sutphin, and Legend Sutphin; her sister-in-law, Cloe Barnes; and her nieces and nephews, Lee Barnes (Mary Kay) Debbie Eonta (Joe), Paul Kozlow (Lisa), and Wendy Dunning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Lee Barnes, Sr. and Larry Garland Barnes; and one sister, Peggy Barnes Bristle. Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Cable, Jonathan Grogan, Jamie Lassiter, Brian Horton, Al Crews, Zackary Hargreaves, and Lee Barnes.
