Marvin Thomas "Buddy" Matthews

KITTRELL- Marvin Thomas “Buddy” Matthews, 88, a resident Kittrell Road, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Franklin Oakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 23, 1937 in Vance Co., he was the son of the late Inez Daniel Matthews and Julian Thomas Matthews. Buddy was a member of Kittrell Baptist Church and was retired from Roses Stores Inc. where he was a Truck Driver. All his life Buddy loved animals especially Horses and Mules.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Barbara Murphy.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruby Finch Matthews; one daughter, Becky M. Crowder (Norman “Pete”) of Henderson; one son, Joe Matthews of Kittrell; one granddaughter, Rachel Taylor (Zack); and two great grandchildren, Thomas Taylor and Ruby Taylor.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Sue Matthews; two sisters Rose M. Roberts and Betty M. Jones; and one brother, William Matthews.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at J. M. White Funeral Home.
