Mary Ann Hope Rivers

HENDERSON– Mary Ann Hope Rivers., 85, a resident of NC 39, Hwy N., passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026 at her home. Born, February 8, 1941 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Pettigrew Hope, Sr. and Alice Norwood Hope King and was the widow of William Allen Rivers, Sr. Mary Ann was retired from Variety Wholesalers, a member of Marrow’s Chapel Church where she was a member of the Golden Age Group and the Adult Sunday School Class.

A graveside funeral service for Mary Ann and Allen will be held Friday August 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Marrow’s Chapel Church Cemetery by Rev. Johnny Yount and Rev. Marty Keeton.

She is survived by one son, William Allen Rivers, Jr., (Heather), of Winston Salem; one daughter, Susan Denise Harris of Henderson; six grandchildren, Hannah Rivers, Emily Miles (Josh), Sarah Rivers, Molly Rivers, Matthew Harris, and Luke Harris; and four great grandchildren, Oliver Wansley, Hallie Wansley. Daisy Miles, and River Miles.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie “June” Hope, James “Duck” Hope, Taylor Hope, and John Hope.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Marrow’s Chapel Church Fellowship Hall.
