Mary Elizabeth Hobgood Peoples

WILMINGTON-Mary Elizabeth Hobgood Peoples, age 87, a resident of 4101 Fraternity Court, and a former resident of Henderson, died Friday, January 4, 2013, at Davis Health Center in Wilmington.Born on July 25. 1925 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Frank Hobgood and Lena Briggs Hobgood.She was retired from Vance County Schools and was a member of Fuller Chapel United Church Of Christ, and attended Wrightsboro United Methodist Church in Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Fuller Chapel United Church Of Christ by the Rev. Tammy Ayscue. Entombment will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie S. Wheat (Gene) and Jennifer P. Collins (Maxie) both of Wilmington; and four grandchildren, Doug Stanford, Kelley Wheat-Rivers, Rob Trotman, and Gray Trotman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anderson Furman Peoples; and one brother, Henry Frank Hobgood, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at Fuller Chapel United Church Of Christ.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Doug Sanford, Rob Trotman, Dan Wheat-Rivers, Adam Stephens, Billy T. Stanton, Dale Pernell, Danny Stanton, and Billy Joe Stanton.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Fuller Chapel United Church Of Christ Building Fund, c/o of Dolores Grissom, 140 E. Main Street, Kittrell, NC27544
