Mary Ellen Hicks Powell

Mary Ellen Hicks Powell, age 88, a resident of 950 Coopers Grove Rd. died Monday, April 04, 2011 at her home. Born in Wayne Co. on September 6, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Mary Ellen Scott Hicks and T. Frank Hicks and was the widow of Frank Bishop Powell, Jr. Mrs. Powell was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church and was formerly a Registered Nurse at the old Maria Parham Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Powell of Henderson; and one son, Frank B. Powell III and wife Sara of Wake Forest.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Maria Parham Health Care Foundation, Oncology Department, 556 Ruin Creek Rd., Henderson NC 27536 or Amedisys Hospice of Franklinton, 3220 US Hwy 1, Franklinton, NC 27525.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
