Mary Ayscue Evans

HENDERSON- Mary Margaret Ayscue Evans, 90, of Steed-Dickerson Road, died Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Duke University Hospital. Born September 23, 1931, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Grey Lee Ayscue and Katie Lou Stevens Ayscue and was the widow of George Washington Evans. She retired from Americal and was a member of Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church where she sang in the choir and was a former Sunday School teacher. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Allen Ayscue. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Evans is survived by four daughters, Roberta Walker, Gail Overby, Martha “Jane” Gooch and Linda Pulley; two sons, David Evans and Phillip Evans, all of Henderson; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-granchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, John Ayscue and Jerry Ayscue, both of Henderson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mike Evans; a sister and five brothers. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Gooch, Calvin Gooch, Troy Gooch, Derek Gooch, David Evans, Michael Evans, Dewey Walker and Billy Gooch. The family will receive friends at the home of Martha Gooch, 757 Steed-Dickerson Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
