Mary Watkins Johnson

Mrs. Mary Watkins Johnson, age 85, a former resident of Garland Street, died Tuesday March 26, 2013 at a local nursing home.Born on December 23, 1927 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Daniel Watkins and Leona Miller Sis Watkins.She was a homemaker, a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and member of the Ladies Group at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Johnny Yount.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by four daughters, Maria J. Ellis and husband Bobby, Sherry J. Schuster and husband, Wade Jr., Ginger J. Pugh and husband Marshall, and Joan J. Jenkins all of Henderson; one son, Garland Curtis Johnson, Jr. and wife Joyce of Oxford; a sister, Nancy Watkins Boyd of Pittsboro; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland C. Johnson, Sr.; a son, Vance Wade Johnson, Sr.; and two sisters, Helen Watkins and Betty Lou Stewart.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 12:30 PM till 2:00 PM at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.At other times they will be at the home of Sherry and Wade Schuster, 3520 Vicksboro Road, Henderson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, C/O Maria J. Ellis, 281 Garrett Rd., Henderson, NC 27537.
Serving as pall bearers will be Mrs. Johnsons grandsons and great-grandsons, Robert Ellis, Jr., Randy Ellis, Vance Johnson, Jr., Daniel Parrish, Brandon Williamson, and Christopher Williamson.
