OXFORD- Mrs. Mary Kate Austin Faulkner, 100, of Eighth Street and formerly of Peachland, died Monday, January 25, 2021 at Whitmore Retirement Center.Born in Union County on August 12, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Lindsay F. Austin and L. Fay Traywick Austin.She was the widow of Francis M. Faulkner, Jr., Anson County Commissioner during the 1970’s.She was a retired teacher, having taught in the Anson and Union County School Systems.
A memorial service and interment will be held in the family cemetery of her longtime farm residence on Old Plank Road in Anson County, at a later date.
She is survived by two sons, Lee A. Faulkner of Henderson and Thomas L. Faulkner of Galveston, TX; two grandchildren, Thomas Kelly Faulkner and Julie Faulkner Wimsatt; and four great grandchildren, Jake, Ella, Hannah and Owen.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Francis "Frank" M. Faulkner, III; a grandson, Steven Faulkner; and her eight siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
