Henderson-Mary Lou Morris Barnett, age 91, a resident of 108 Fernwood Creek Court, died Wednesday, April 09, 2014, in a local nursing home. Born on November 10, 1922 in Masontown, Pennsylvania and raised in Dundalk and Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late James Robert Morris and Corinne Talbot Morris and was the widow of Leonard Barnett.
Mary Lou retired in 1984 as the Vance County Clerk Of Superior Court.She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 55 years and was a member of the Dorothy Currin Sunday School Class, and a member of the Colonial Garden Club.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 am in the Leathers Memorial Chapel at First Baptist Church by Dr. Ronald S. Cava.A private burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda B. Hall and husband, Thomas of Henderson; one son, Michael L. Barnett and wife, Susan of Franklin,TN; one sister, Sara M. Young of Fort Wayne, IN and one brother-in-law, Charles Barnett of Henderson; two grandchildren, Corrie B. Blair and husband, Joseph, Kristopher M. Barnett and wife, Andrea; two step-grandchildren, Shelby H. Hemmen and husband, Kian, and Gregory Hall; four great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times they will be at the home at 108 Fernwood Creek Court.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC27536.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver, Elizabeth Whitley and the staff at Senior Citizens Nursing Home.
