Mary Orange Grissom

KITTRELL-Mary Elizabeth Orange Grissom, age 91, a resident of 899 N. Chavis Road, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Maria Parham Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Henrico County, Virginia on January 7, 1925, she was the daughter of the late
William Anderson Orange and Laura Carroll Orange and was the widow of George A. Grissom, Sr. and James Marshall Grissom.
Mary was a member of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church Senior Circle, and was a former member and officer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 am at St. James Catholic Church by Rev. John Gillespie. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Katherine G. Young (Earl) of Henderson; four grandchildren, Clifton E. Grissom, Jeffrey W. Grissom, Ann Young Simmons, and Scott P. Young; and four great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by one son, George A. Grissom, Jr.
The family will receive friends following the service at St. James Catholic Church.At other times they will be at the home of Kathy and Earl Young, 4483 Gillburg Road, Henderson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clifton Grissom, Jeffery Grissom, Jacob Grissom, Scott Young, Brent Young and Brian Young.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 3275 US 158, By-Pass, Henderson, NC27537or to the Plank Chapel United Methodist Church Senior Circle c/o Patricia Rogers, 2543 Rocky Ford Road, Kittrell, NC27544.
