Mattie Brewer Owens

HENDERSON- Mattie Brewer Owens, age 81, a resident of 15 Hayes Farm Road, died Monday April 13, 2015 at a local nursing home.Born November 10, 1933 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Garner Brewer and Virgie Stainback Brewer.She was retired from Southern Quilters where she worked in the human resources department and was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at New Bethel Baptist Church by Rev. Jonathan Owens and Dr. Donald A. Perkinson.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her four sons Sam Owens, Jr. and wife, Margie of Durham, Brad Owens and wife, Susan of Kingsport, TN, Todd Owens and wife, Cindy and Rev. Jonathan A. Owens and wife, Mindy both of Henderson; seven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home, 15 Hayes Farm Road, Henderson.
Serving as pall bearers will be Shawn Pegram, Randy Hayes, Pete Overton, Rev. Danny Estave, Jeremy Owens, Jeff Owens, Mike Woodlief and Vann Wester.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Senior Citizens Home for the care they showed Mattie.
