Maurice Julian Vaughan, Jr., 86, formerly of Henderson, died Sunday, November 01, 2020, at Franklin Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation in Louisburg.Born in Durham on January 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Maurice J. Vaughan, Sr. and Laura Parylee Perkinson Vaughan, and was the widower of Nell Abbott Vaughan.
Maurice served in the United States Coast Guard.He was formerly employed with Ballard's Frozen Food Brokerage, and was a member of South Henderson Church of God.
Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Gary Harper and the Rev. Mark Bateman.
He is survived by one son, Richard Dale Vaughan (Debbie) of Rock Hill, SC; one daughter, Rhonda V. Renn of Henderson; five grandchildren, Krystal C. Greenway, Nikki C. Montgomery, Bradley Vaughan, Jennifer V. Boyd, and Jessica V. Leezer; and ten great grandchildren.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Marie Vaughan Stainback.
The family will receive friends at Sunset Gardens prior to the service from 1:15 until 2:00 pm.At other times they will be at the home of Blake and Nikki Montgomery at 51 Fairview Drive.
