HENDERSON-Mavis Faison Faulkner, 96, a resident of 3444 Southerland Mill Road, died Monday, April 30, 2018, in a local nursing home.Born on September 30, 1921 in Wake County, she was the daughter of the late William Dallas Faison and Ora Nowell Faison, and was the widow of Howard Vernon "H.V." Faulkner, Jr.
Mrs. Faulkner was a graduate of Berry University in Rome, Georgia and a former school teacher at the former Aycock School.She was the oldest living member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm, at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Burgess and the Rev. Sam Brewer. Burial will follow in the old Bethel Cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, Howard Faulkner of the home, and Bobby Faulkner and Linwood Faulkner of Henderson; one daughter, Barbara Ann Harris (Jerry) of Henderson; and six grandchildren, Robert Faulkner, Daniel Faulkner, Jennifer Faulkner, Todd Faulkner, Jason Harris, and Curtis Faulkner; and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 1 until 2 pm at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home of Bobby Faulkner at 3636 Southerland Mill Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be her grandsons.
