Melvin Dorsey Greenway, Jr., age 83, a resident of 130 Gun Club Road, died Sunday, January 30, 2011, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on May 16, 1927 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Melvin Dorsey Greenway, Sr. and Johnnie Barnes Greenway.He was a retired tobacco farmer and was also retired from Revlon. Mr. Greenway was a member of the Poplar Creek Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Poplar Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tony Evans.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth G. Parrott and Juanita G. Guin.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Poplar Creek Baptist Church.
Serving as active pall bearers will be L. B. ONeal, Kevin Guin, Larry Greenway, Fleet Crews, Jerry Capps, Paul Clarke, Amos Brewer and Gilbert Hedgepeth.
