Melvin Lee Marks, age 81, a resident of 7790 Newton Dairy Road, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Duke University Medical Center.Born on December 6, 1931, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Jessie Put Marks and Berta Cooley Marks. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War.Licensed as a minister in the Church of God, he was minister of the former Faith Assembly Church and served as Chaplain at the former North Carolina Department of Corrections facility in Gillburg.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at Elmwood Cemetery by Joseph Buchanan.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Abbott Marks of the home and his sister Peggy Marks Roberson of Henderson.
The family will receive friends after the service on Wednesday.
