HENDERSON- Melvin Dorsey Roberson, age 84, a resident of 3060 Kelly Road, Henderson, died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on January 5, 1929, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Hunter J. Roberson and Julie Ross Roberson.He was a retired automobile mechanic, tobacco farmer, and a member of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at Harris Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Alan P. Felton.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Harp Roberson of the home; three daughters, Donna R. Edwards of Kittrell, Janice R. Cummings of Henderson and Roxie R. Fox of Littleton; a son, Dennis K. Roberson of Henderson; two sisters, Gladys R. Burkett of Independence, MO and Barbara R. Cummings of Strasburg, VA; a brother, Howard Roberson of Fountain, NC; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Harris Chapel United Methodist Church.At other times they will be at the home, 3060 Kelly Road, Henderson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Damian Edwards, Corey Edwards, Chris Brooks, James Boyd, Chance LeBron, and Brian Cummings.
