HENDERSON-Melvin Thomas Roberson, age 74, a resident of Senior Citizens Nursing Home, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on December 16, 1935, he was the son of the late Melvin Dorsey Roberson and Ruby Austin Grissom Roberson.Mr. Roberson was a Veteran of the United States Army.He was a member of South Henderson Church Of God, a former Henderson Police Officer, and was a retired inspector from Royal Homes Fashions.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tim Burgess.
He is survived by one daughter, Leslie R. Moore of Henderson; two sons, Scott Roberson and Anthony Roberson both of Henderson; four grandchildren; and one brother, James Nelson Roberson of Nags Head.He was preceded in death by one brother, William Dickie Roberson.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Anthony Roberson at 514 Abbott Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1699 Weldons Mill Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
