Merna Mckinney Matthews

TOWNSVILLE-Merna McKinney Matthews, age 69, a resident of 15781 NC 39 Hwy. N, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at her home.Born on July 1, 1943 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late John M. McKinney and Maggie Watson McKinney.She was the former owner and operator of Hibernia Shell Convenience Store, a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the Living By Faith Sunday School Class.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by her husband, William Bill Matthews of the home; two daughters, Melinda M. Reams of Williamsboro and Ramona Matthews of Carboro and five grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Nance and her brother, Jimmy McKinney.
The body will be taken home (15781 NC 39 Hwy N.) where the family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 PM till 6:00 PM.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Reams, William Bimbo Jefferson, Morris Batten, Kevin McKinney, Johnny Williams, Jack Pernell and Adam Williams.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 914, Henderson, NC 27536.
