Merrell Tyrone Tart

Merrell Tyrone Tart, 75, a resident of Epsom Rocky Ford Road, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at his home. Born on November 11, 1947 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Lacey Tart and Virginia Tunstall Tart. Tyrone was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed Heating and Air Condition Service Technician, and was a former Commander and life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. Funeral services with military honors will be held Friday September 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the J. M. White Funeral Home by Pastor Tim Short. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Mason Tart of the home; one son, Jackie Adams (Katherine) of Henderson; two sisters, Stella Shealy of Henderson and Shirley Hathaway of Franklinton; one brother, Freeman Tart of Bangor, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Christina Thompson of Henderson; one great granddaughter, Edna Thompson; two step grandchildren, Emily Bowes and Jacob Bowes; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Prentice Tart and Lacey “Pete” Tart. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm in the chapel of J. M. White Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the VFW and the American Legion.
