OXFORD-Michael Curtis Averette, Sr., age 69, a resident of 7534 Hicksboro Road, diedSunday, April 24, 2016.Born onDecember 26, 1946 in National City, CA, he was the son of Nell Burnette Averette of Henderson and the late Claude Swanson Averette.Mike was a 1966 graduate of Dabney High School and was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era.He was retired from M. R. Williams, Inc.A lifelong member of Island Creek Baptist Church, he was a member of the G. W. Norwood Sunday School Class, and was also a member of the Twelve Point Hunting Club.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 am at Island Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jean Hart Averette of the home; two sons, Michael Curtis Averette, Jr. and wife, Angie of Henderson, and Benjamin James Averette and wife, Anna of Creedmoor; and three grandchildren, James Alexander Averetteand John Madison Averette of Henderson, and Charles Bernard Averette of Creedmoor.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Jimmy Hobgood, Bobby Norwood, Dan Patterson, Dennis Massey, Rodney Dickerson, and Jamie Morgan.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be members of the Twelve Point Hunting Club.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home.
