Michael Corey Hughes

KITTRELL- Michael Corey Hughes, 49, of Buffalo Creek Lane, died Monday, March 6, 2023 at Duke University Hospital. Born June 5, 1973, he was the son of Donald Wayne Hughes of Henderson and the late Shelia Harris Martin. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a machine operator at Bridgestone Bandag for 30 years. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Robert Kelley. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Gardens. In addition to his father, Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Melissa Kinsey Hughes of the home; his step-mother, Judy Hughes of Henderson; two sons, Gaston Hughes and Ryan Hughes, both of the home; a brother, Donald Dwayne Hughes and wife, Laura of Timberlake; his father-in-law, Robert Lanny Kinsey and wife, Yvonne; special niece and nephew Vincent Hughes and wife, Whitney and Crystal Walker and husband Phillip, all of Roxboro; a great nephew, Brody Walker and a great niece, Aria Hughes. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 166 Buffalo Creek Lane, Kittrell, NC 27544. Serving as pallbearers will be Lanny Kinsey, Justin Kinsey, Trey Kinsey, Vincent Hughes, Phillip Walker, Todd Garrett and Shawn McIlroy. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
