OXFORD- Michael James Reavis, 56, of Harold O’Brien Road, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at Duke University Medical Center after a courageous four-year battle with colon cancer. Born October 30, 1966, in Vance County, he was the son of Rev. James “Jimmy” Lewis Reavis, Jr. of Rocky Mount and the late Eddie Jean Wiggins Reavis. Michael was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and a proud “Grumps” to his grandchildren. He was a true American, member of the N.R.A. and The Republican Party. Michael was retired from Winston International after 24 years of employment. He was a member of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church where a memorial service will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. by Rev. Wayne Clark and Rev. Robbie Wood. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Linda Finch Reavis of the home; three sons, Tyler James Reavis (Carly), Joshua Finch Reavis (Kelsey) and Seth Judson Reavis, all of Oxford; two brothers, Mark Reavis and Craig Reavis (Angie), both of Rocky Mount; and two granddaughters, Scotlyn Jade Reavis and Addison Renee Faucette. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lindsey Elizabeth Reavis. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. in the Tabbs Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall and at other times at the home.
