Mildred Clark Goodwin, age 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2012.Born on October 16, 1923 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence A. Clark and Evie Mitchell Clark.She retired after 38 years of service with the former Carolina Power & Light Company.Mildred was a charter member of Raleigh Road Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for the Womens Class for 44 years, and member of the choir. She was best known for intercessory prayers for family and friends. Millie kept her thoughts on Jesus.She was an amazing lady, and will be missed by all that knew her.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Brett Marlowe and the Rev. Ralph McGowan.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by three sisters, Eleanor C. Hamm and Margaret C. Floyd of Henderson; and Magaline Lewis Reeves of Mulberry, AR; and much loved nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Herbert Goodwin; and her brother, James A. Clark.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00am at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Eleanor Hamm at 1610 Summitt Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Raleigh Road Baptist Church, 3892 Raleigh Road, Henderson NC 27537 or to Rebuilding Hope, PO Box 2826, Henderson NC, 27536.
A special thanks to caregivers Karen Waverly, Shirley Jones, Annette Jones and Lena Murray, and to the staff and employees of the 1st floor at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehab Center.Mildred was a volunteer for the devotional hour for many years there.
