HENDERSON- Mildred Newcomb Abbott Hale, 98, of Arrow Street, died Monday, February 9, 2026 at her home. Born December 23, 1927, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Lucy Mosley Abbott and Cleveland Washington Abbott and was the widow of Joseph Aaron Hale. Mrs. Hale retired from Roses where she was the cafeteria manager. Following retirement she was an in-home caregiver, working until her health declined in the fall of 2025.

She attended South Henderson Church of God.

A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Gardens by Rev. Mark Bateman and Rev. Ernie Bowes.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Hale Coghill of Henderson and Karen Hale Ivey of Henderson, and a son, Steve Hale (Kay) of Warrenton; six grandchildren, John Coghill, Jr. (Sherron), Bryan Hale (Emily), Lonnie Hale, Kelly Hale (Jennifer), Cassidy Glenn (Matthew), and Priscilla Davis (Johnathan); nine great-grandchildren, Michael Gwinn, Alycia Coghill, Amber Williams, Jacob Hale, Andrew Hale, Hayleigh Davis, Nathan Davis, Waylon Glenn and Poppi Jo Glenn; five great-great grandchildren, Savannah Coghill, Bentley Williams, Khloie Coghill, K.C. Williams, and Dash Williams; a great-great-great grandson, Braxton Riley; and her very dear friend, Ann Hudson.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Buddy Abbott, Thomas Abbott, Wilson Abbott; and two sisters, Lucille Bobbitt and Mae Bailey.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Cogill, Jr., Bryan Hale, Lonnie Hale, Jacob Hale, Andrew Hale and Michael Gwinn.

The family will receive friends following the service at Sunset Gardens and at other times at the home.
