Morris Harden Wilson

HENDERSON- Morris Harden Wilson, Sr., 94, of US Hwy 158 Bypass, died Sunday, May 11, 2025 at his home. Born February 15, 1931, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Pauline Satterwhite Wilson and Morris Henry Wilson and was the widower of Billie Jean Wortham Wilson. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He also served in the North Carolina National Guard for 30 years. Morris retired from General Cigar and Tobacco after 38 years. He was an avid Master Gardner with a great love of growing vegetables and sharing them with his friends and family. He also loved to fish and just retired his golf clubs two years ago. Morris was a devout Christian and a member of Dexter Baptist Church for 80 years, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Gideon’s International and worked for many years with the men’s Baptist group on many missionary trips. A memorial service for Morris will be held Saturday May 17, 2025 at 3:00 at Dexter Baptist Church by pastors Wayne Clark and Neil Woodlief. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church starting at 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.; and at all other times they will be at the home. He is survived by his children, John Morris “Butch” Wilson, daughter in-law Linda Glover Wilson, Wendy Gail Kerley, son-in-law Ronnie Kerley, Stephen Craig Wilson, daughter in-law Pam Hart Wilson, Holly Eve Mitchell, Paul Keith Wilson and daughter in-law, Elizabeth Moss Wilson; five grandchildren, Stephen Craig II Wilson (Maranda), Zachary Harden Wilson, Katelin Elizabeth Wilson and fiancé Sterling Price, Haley Wilson Clark, (Nick), Cody Ryan Mitchell, Matthew Scott O’Geary, (Megan); brother Charles David Wilson and wife, Nancy F. Wilson; special friend, Sylvia Edwards; five great grandchildren; and his nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Barry Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s International, Gideon’s International Processing Center, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251, or to the Morris and Billie Jean Wilson Memorial Fund C/O Dexter Baptist Church, C/O Machelle Thomas, 6661 Huntsboro Road, Oxford, NC 27565.
