Myrtle Peoples Journegan White was born April 20, 1925 to Hattie Robertson and Junious Peoples in Vance County. Surviving is her son, Hilton Wayne Journegan (Beverly) of Raleigh, two stepsons Herb White, Jr. (Rita) of Kalispell, Montana and Jerry White of Almosa, Colorado, two granddaughters, Jennifer Langston (Kevin) of Wilson and Kristi Penny (Brad) of Knightdale, great grandchildren, Matthew Langston and Courtney Privette (Ronnie), great great grandchildren, Hudson and Andrew Privette, three step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren, sisters Susie Vick and Grace O'Geary, brother in law James "Pete" O'Geary. Myrtle was preceded in death by her first husband, Hilton Journegan and second husband, Herb White, Sr., five sisters, Clara Abbott, Ethel Clark, Louise Reynolds, Hattie Ranes, Katherine Shinkle and two brothers, Edwin Peoples, Sr. and Norwood Peoples. Myrtle was a member of First Baptist Church Henderson where she taught Sunday School, was Secretary of the Joy Currin Class, leader of the Rebecca Frazier Missions Group and served on the Finance Committee. She served as PTA President, substitute school teacher, was on the Vance County Senior Advisory Board, volunteer at Maria Parham Medical Center for 44 years and former member of Otey Barnette bowling league. She was retired from Henderson Wholesale Grocery and Dr. Young Ko, anesthesiologists. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Henderson by Dr. Ron S. Cava. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church.
