WAKE FOREST-Nancy Radford Frazier, 70, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 25, 2026. She was born on December 30, 1955, in Raleigh, North Carolina, the firstborn child of the late Addie Williamson Radford and John Marion Radford Sr. of Clayton, North Carolina.
Nancy began her early years in Wendell, North Carolina, before her family settled in Selma, where she would flourish into the remarkable woman she became. She was a proud 1974 graduate of Smithfield-Selma High School, where she distinguished herself as Homecoming Queen, Feature Twirler, clarinet player, and chorus member — a natural performer whose gifts were evident from the very beginning. She went on to earn a degree in Music from Meredith College in 1979, and dedicated many rewarding years to teaching music in the Johnston County School System, as well as serving as an instructor at Meredith College and providing private instruction in Granville County and its school system. For a season, Nancy also pursued a career as a Flight Attendant with USAir, based out of Washington, D.C. and Greensboro — a chapter that fed her deep and lifelong love of travel and people. In her later years, she returned to her first love, teaching private piano lessons in Clayton.
To know Nancy was to know a woman of extraordinary musical gift. She served as pianist for every church she ever attended, and graced countless weddings and special events with her talent throughout her life. Yet above all her accomplishments, Nancy was defined — in her own words and by the testimony of all who loved her — by her devotion to God, family, friends, and fun, always in that order. She placed her faith in Jesus Christ at the center of her life and was active in her church and community throughout her years. She raised her sons in that same faith, instilling in them the values she held most dear.
Nancy had a gift for people that was simply unmatched. She never met a stranger, and she counted more friends than most could imagine — because she gave of herself freely and loved without reservation. She traveled the world every chance she was given, and she brought that same sense of wonder and warmth to every room she entered. Her laugh, her grace, and her open heart left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, June 29, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Union Chapel Church of Kittrell by Rev. Darryl Radford.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the church Fellowship Hall.
Nancy is survived by two sons and their families, whom she adored and loved unconditionally: William Radford Frazier and his wife, Melanie Pyles Frazier, along with their daughters Madeleine Elise and Margot Castile, of Oxford, North Carolina; and John Robert Frazier and his wife, Ashley Owen Frazier, along with their sons Grayson James and Shepard Owen, of Wake Forest, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sisters, Paula Radford Bowen and husband Craig of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Barbie Radford Sloop of Clayton, North Carolina; her brother, John Marion Radford Jr. and Tina Richardson of Selma, North Carolina; nieces Ava and Bella Bowen, and Elizabeth Sloop; nephew Robert F. Sloop III and wife Jenny, and their son Matthew; and a cherished circle of beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family extends heartfelt and special gratitude to cousin Elizabeth Grant, who lovingly opened her home to Nancy in her final days, and to niece Elizabeth Sloop for her devoted care and assistance. Deepest thanks are also offered to the many friends, family members, CNAs, and Hospice workers who surrounded Nancy with around-the-clock love and care in her final days. It was, as those who knew her believe, a beautiful reflection of the life she had lived — one of giving, loving, and serving others without measure.
With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Nancy, who took her final bow — unafraid and with an open heart — surrounded by the people she loved most. A woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, and grace, she lived a full life with Jesus as her guide. Unyielding in her faith, boundless in her love, and utterly unforgettable in every way.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made for the Nancy Radford Frazier Music Scholarship, 203 West Dale Dr., Oxford, NC 27565.
