HENDERSON- Nancy Abbott Thomas, age 81, a resident of 714 Shirley Dr., died Monday, June 20, 2016, at her home. Born June 30, 1934, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Edward James Abbott and Jessie Bleadsoe Abbott, and was the widow of June Wilson Thomas, Jr.Nancy was a retired LPN at Henderson Family Medicine and was an active member of White Memorial United Methodist Church and the Ladies Circle.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11am at the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Jimmy Grissom. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Teresa T. Rowland and husband, Alan of Henderson; one sister, Peggy A. White and husband, John of Fayetteville; one brother, James Abbott and wife, Mary Frances of Henderson; and her beloved cat "Pumpkin".In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth A. Stanley; and two brothers, Clifton "Skeet" Abbott and Dalton "Jack" Abbott.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home. Serving as active pall bearers will be Tom Pernell, Eddie Grissom, Bill Hobgood, Phil Lee, Donald Roberson, and James Ayscue.
