HENDERSON-Nash Helton King, age 90, a resident of 3095 N. Lynnbank Road, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on October 13, 1923 in Bladen County, he was the son of the late Lester Helton King and Rannie Kinlaw King.
Mr. King was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normany.He was retired from Roses Stores, Inc. and was a member of Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ where he was a member of the Bible Class and served as a Deacon and Trustee.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31, 2014, at 11 am at Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Tammy Ayscue.Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edna Harp King of the home; one daughter, Nancy K. Franklin and husband, Wayne of Henderson; two sons, Bobby N. King and wife, Margaret of Midlothian, VA, and Larry T. King and wife, Deborah of Henderson; five grandchildren, Karen K. Dyson and husband Ricky, Kevin W. Franklin and wife, Kim, Wendy N. Franklin, Ian C. King, and Cayton A. King; one great grandson, Dallas Roberson; four sisters, Rachel K. Russ of Dublin, Ruthie K. Byrd of Tar Heel, Wilma K. Bedsole of Elizabethtown,, and Paula K. Zimberg of Henderson; and two brothers, William King of Bunnlevel and Murray Charles King of Clarkton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ernestine K. Davis and Mary Thelma K. Davis.
The family will receive friends Monday immediately following the service at Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ.At other times they will be at the home at 3095 N. Lynnbank Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Kevin Franklin, Cayton King, Sonny Coghill, Donald Coghill, Chris Pendergrass, T.T. (Buster) Beckham, II, Herbie Grissom, Billy Stanton, Preston Floyd, Alan Hedgepeth, Patricia Burns, Dolores Grissom, Patty Gillespie, and Christy Pulley.
