Nell Abbott Vaughan, age 77, a resident of 1225 Oakridge Avenue, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at her home.Born on May 29, 1934 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Bryant Abbott and Aliene Pegram Abbott.Mrs. Vaughan was owner and operator of the former Mother Goose Nursery for over thirty years.She was a member of South Henderson Church of God where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Womens Ministry.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 PM at South Henderson Church of God by Rev. Gary Harper.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice J. Vaughan, Jr. of the home; a son, Dale Vaughan and wife Debbie of Rock Hill, SC; a daughter, Rhonda V. Renn of Henderson; two sisters, Ferbee A. Allen of Henderson and Anne A. Pulley of Richmond; a brother O.C. Abbott of Camden; five grandchildren, Krystal C. Turner, Nikki C. Montgomery, Bradley D. Vaughan, Jennifer L. Vaughan, and Jessica N. Vaughan; and three great grandchildren, Andrea N. Taylor, Laila F. Taylor and Brielynn G. Turner.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 till 8:30 PM Thursday at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home, 1225 Oakridge Avenue.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bradley D. Vaughan, George C. Allen III, Hal G. Abbott, Clarence R. Pegram, Howard F. Pegram, Darryl C. Mullinex, Delmas B. Pulley, and Jessie Ray Pegram.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to South Henderson Church of God, 125 J.P. Taylor Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
