HENDERSON- Nellie Edwards Harper, 81, of Beckford Drive, died Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Maria Parham Health.Born on September 16, 1938 in Durham County she was the daughter of the late Arthur Raymond Edwards and Minnie Smith Edwards and was the widow of Clarence Edward Harper, Sr.Mrs. Harper was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church and retired from Tastee Freeze where she worked over 50 years.
A private graveside service will be held Monday at 11:00am at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Frank Sossamon.
Mrs. Harper is survived by her son, Clarence Edward "C.E." Harper (Tina) of Henderson; two grandchildren, Amy Collins and Blake Harper; six sisters, Shirley Ellington (Butch), Faye Roberson (Charles), Martha Pendergrass (Ronald), Ann Palzatto, Gail Dement, and Wanda Askew (Skeet) all of Henderson; two brothers, Dennis Edwards (Nancy) and Jerry Edwards (Teresa); and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Hendricks, a brother, Arthur Edwards, Jr. and two brothers-in-law, John Palzatto and Durwood Dement.
Anyone who wishes to view Mrs. Harper may do so at J.M. White Funeral Home during the day from 9am until 5 pm Saturday and Sunday.
