HENDERSON-Nettie Hicks Moss Akers, age 94, a resident of 820 Coble Blvd., died Thursday, February 14, 2013 in a local nursing home.
Born in Vance County on March 4, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Hicks and Annie Belle Hunt Hicks.She was a retired butcher from the former 7-11 Food Store, and was an active member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Aubrey Florence.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by one son, Crawford Erwin Moss of Kittrell; one sister, Sallie Margaret Hicks of Butner; five grandchildren, Debbie Shearon, Elizabeth Wilson, Dale Moss, Chris Moss, and Wayne Moss; seven great grandchildren, Melissa Pittman, Bobbi Jean Moss, Phillip Moss, Steven Moss, Chad Moss, Nicholas Moss, and Nathaniel Moss; and two great great grandchildren Levi Pittman, and Jordyn Moss; a daughter-in-law Faye Moss; and her special friend and caregiver, Emma Clack.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Moss; one son, Richard Moss; and one daughter-in-law, Juanita I. Moss.
Mrs. Akers’ family thanks the staff of Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehab Center for their kind compassion and care while she resided their.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Erwin Moss, 2753 Rocky Ford Road, Kittrell, NC.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Moss, Dale Moss, Steven Moss, Phillip Moss, Chad Moss, and Rickey Overby.
