HENDERSON-Norman Raymond Hill, age 89, a resident of 909 Hargrove St., died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehab.Born on April 24, 1924 in Vance Co., he was the son of the late John Hill and Ophelia Faulkner Hill.Mr. Hill was a member of The Church of The Holy Innocents.He was a Veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII in the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters, and was the recipient of seven Battle Ribbons and 14 Battle Stars. Norman was a member of the VFW Post 4096 in Norlina of which he was a past Commander, a member of the USS Alabama Crewmans Association of which he formerly served as Secretary and President, and was a member of the American Legion.He was a retired machinist in the Dynamatic Division of Eaton Corporation in Kenosha, WIwhere he worked for 34 years.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at the Church Of The Holy Innocents by the Rev. DonaldA. Lowery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Duesing Hill of the home; one daughter, Lynn Nalley and husband Lee ofColumbus Ga.; and one grandson, Brian C. Nalley.He was preceded in death by one grandson Sean T. Nalley.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Great Hall of The Church of The Holy Innocents, 201 S. Chestnut Street.
