HENDERSON- Ollie Thomas Edwards, Jr., 86, a resident of 812 Shirley Drive, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at Brian Center in Durham.BornSeptember 11, 1930 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Ollie Thomas Edwards, Sr. and Catherine Abbott Edwards.Mr. Edwards was a Veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the former A & P grocery store where he worked as a butcher.He was a member of Gospel Baptist Church and a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Frank Sossamon.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his son, Thomas Lewis Edwards of the home; a daughter, Karen Amend of Baltimore, MD; his brother, James Allie Edwards and wife Helen of Henderson; his sister, Faydene Edwards of Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Roberson Edwards; his daughter, Crystal Lynn Edwards; and a sister, Nancy Matthews.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. till 2:00 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home.
