Ora Lee Hunt Powell

OXFORD- Ora Lee Hunt Powell, 101, of Prospect Avenue, died Monday, February 28, 2022 at Universal Health Care. Born August 6, 1920 in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Viola Short Hunt and John Thomas Hunt and the widow of John Henry Powell. She was retired from Americal and formerly worked at Continental Hosiery. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Gardens conducted by Rev. Wilbert Horton. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia McDaniel (Thomas) of Henderson, Betty Holloway (Mike) of Wake Forest, and Bonnie Powell of Oxford; four grandchildren, Bridget Newman, Chris Lexa, Thomas McDaniel, Jr., and Timothy McDaniel; five great grandchildren, Tyler McDaniel, Dylan McDaniel, Cade Lexa, Logan Lexa and Emory Stull; and two great-great grandchildren, Elizabeth McDaniel and Ryleigh McDaniel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Thomas “Bro” Powell. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM at Sunset Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas McDaniel, Sr., Thomas McDaniel, Jr., Timothy McDaniel, Tyler McDaniel, Mike Holloway and Dylan McDaniel.
