HENDERSON- Otho Thomas "Sonny" Hicks, 85, of Daniel Boone Trail, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Maria Parham Health.Born in Vance County on December 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Otho Joshua Hicks and Martha Wilford Hicks.Sonny was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church where he was a member of the G.W. Norwood Sunday School Class, sang the choir, served as a deacon and on various other committees.He was retired from Lance, Inc.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Island Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Yount and Rev. Marshall Neathery.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Vicky Fleming Hicks of the home; one daughter, Crystal Renee Hicks of Newport News, VA; a son, Glenn Thomas Hicks of Yorktown, VA; two step-daughters, Angela Ellington, of Manson and Carey Thompson of Henderson; three sisters, Margaret H. Robinson of Henderson, Betty H. Boyd of Oxford and Mary Ann H. Howell of Wilson; a brother, Ben Hicks of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Christina Hicks Krouse, Daniel Bryant, Nathaniel Hicks, Martin Johns, Andrew Johns, Matthew White, Kimberlee Nance, and Jordan Stainback; and four great grandchildren, Sierra Hicks, Jaden Bryant, Jordan Bryant and Raynee Johns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie H. Wilcher.
The family will receive friends following the service at Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery and at other times at the home.
