Pauline Mcneny Johnson

HENDERSON- Pauline Hethorn McNeny Johnson, 99, departed this life on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Maria Parham Health. She is survived by her beloved husband of 79 years, Robert Ligon Johnson; her daughters, Pauline “Paula” McNeny Johnson Stewart of Atlantic Beach and Susie Ligon Johnson Creel of Dunn; and her four grandchildren, Phillip Michael Stewart, Jr., and wife, Ellie of Woodbridge, CT, Robert Johnson Stewart and wife, Kristi of Chicago, IL, Ligon Johnson Creel Holder and husband, Will of Angier and William Nicholson Creel III of Raleigh; and her six great grandchildren, Harris Ligon Stewart, Mary McNeny “Mary Mac” Holder, Sally Jane Stewart, William Woodrow “Woody” Holder III, Harriet “Hattie” Ann Stewart and Graeme William Stewart to whom she was affectionately known as “Woo.” Pauline was born on August 4, 1924 in Henderson to Pauline Beatrice Hethorn McNeny and Alonzo Thompson McNeny. She graduated from St. Mary’s School and attended Women’s College UNC at Greensboro. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Henderson and was a former member of the Henderson Garden Club, the ALMA Club and The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina. Pauline was loved by all who knew her and accepted God’s amazing grace with great grace of her own. Her family wishes to express deep gratitude for Pauline’s multitude of faithful friends and for her long life of faith and service. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. by the Reverend David Fuentes. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Henderson, PO Box 726, Henderson, NC 27536.
