HENDERSON- Peggy Park Vaughan Capps, 89, of Poplar Creek Road, went to her heavenly home on October 4, 2020.Born in Warren County on June 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Blount Vaughan and Pearl Thompson Vaughan and the widow of James Conly Capps, Sr.
Peggy was a lifelong member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church, a secretary, bookkeeper, homemaker, farmer, and a farmer's wife.She was an active volunteer with the Vance County Home Extension Service and was a member of the Vance County Genealogical Society for many years until her health declined.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Poplar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Tony Evans.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Faye C. Guin (Danny) and Gayla C. Strickland (Danny), four grandsons, Bryan Strickland (Betsy), Dean Guin, Lance Strickland (Dolly) and Kevin Guin; five great grandchildren, Ryan Strickland, Danica Thomas, Blake Strickland, Tyler Strickland, and Hunter Strickland.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Capps, four brothers, Freeman Vaughan, Jerman Vaughan, Martin Earl Vaughan, and Harvey Vaughan; and two sisters, Louise Vaughan and Pearl V. Rainey.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery on Tuesday.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be John Capps, Jerry Capps, John Bunch, Donnie Dunkley, Randy Ball, David Parham and Ray Parham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poplar Creek Baptist Church C/O Cynthia Capps, 500 Poplar Creek Road,Henderson, NC 27537.
Due to Covid-19, those attending the graveside service and visitation are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
