HENDERSON-Peggy Drake May Hicks, age 85, a resident of 836 Rook Street, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at her home.Born on October 21, 1930 in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Herman May and Margaret Conwell May, and was the widow of James W. Hicks, Sr.
Peggy was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star of which she was a past Worthy Matron.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.
She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Hicks Brooks of Kittrell; two sons, Michael E. Hicks and wife, Carlene of Pittsboro, and James W. Hicks, Jr. and wife, Denise of Henderson; one sister, Holly M. Gerrard of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Jennifer B. Layton and husband, Mark, James W. Hicks, III and wife, Heather, Sharon H. Jones and husband, Michael, Jennifer Bari and husband, Ivan, Michael Johnson, Joseph Overby, Jeremy Overby and Jessica Barrett; eleven great grandchildren, Kyle Layton, Benjamin Layton, James W. Hicks, IV, Makenzie Hicks, Zackary Hicks, Wesley Hicks, Landon Jones, Graham Jones, Madden Jones Jaylen Overby and Charlotte Barrett.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stephanie Hicks; one great granddaughter, Callie Jones; and one sister, Connie Lewis.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 1 until 2 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home.
