WILMINGTON- Peggy Hinson Mason, 80, a former resident of Parker Lane in Henderson, died February 7, 2018 in Wilmington.Born in Chapel Hill on May 20, 1937 she was the daughter of the late John H. Hinson and Myrtle Parks Hinson and was the widow of Ralph Newman Mason, Sr.Peggy attended Womans College of North Carolina, now the University of North Carolina- Greensboro.She worked for Vance County Schools and was the co-owner of RE/MAX Carriage Realty in Henderson.She was active with the Vance County Animal Shelter, Vance County Humane Society, was a member of the Kerr Lake Board of Realtors and a member of The Church of The Holy Innocents.She also formerly served on the Vance County Tourism Board and Vance Charter School Board.Peggy was a lifelong Tar Heel fan who loved the North Carolina beaches with all her heart.Nothing was more important to her than her children, grand-children, and those she considered her extended family.Quick with a smile, she embodied grace and southern hospitality in all things.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 24 at 2:30 PM at The Church of the Holy Innocents by Father Don Lowrey.
Peggy is survived by a son, Ralph Newman Mason, Jr. and wife Tamara, of Savannah, GA; a daughter, Parkie Mason Stewardson and husband Ashley, of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Mason, Hannah Grace Mason, Ralph Newman "Tripp" Mason, III, Kayley Savannah Greene, Zachary Gauge Greene, Robert Mason Stewardson and Anna-Parks Stewardson; a brother, John H. Hinson, Jr. of Arizona; and her life-long friend, Ann Boyd ofHenderson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 23rd after 10 AM and following the service on Saturday February 24th at the home of Faye Stewardson, 104 Country Club Drive, Henderson, NC 27536.
