HENDERSON- Mrs. Rachel Moody Parrott, age 85, a resident of 1204 Roanoke Ave, died Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Mecklenburg County Virginia on November 11, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Samuel Alexander Moody and Cecilia Gill Moody.She was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School in the Childrens Department for 45 years. Mrs. Parrott retired from Citizens Insurance Company where she worked for 42 years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Flat Rock United Methodist Church by Rev. Cathy Hoyle.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Parrott is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ulysses Jones UJ Parrott, Jr. of the home; her daughter, Marilyn Parrott Smith and husband Gary of Summerfield; and her grandson, Jordan Smith.She was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Moody Parmenter.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home, 1204 Roanoke Ave. Henderson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Ross, Jimmy Adams, Ray Owens, Jim Bona, Jim Roy, Clifton Capps and Robert Bowen.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Flat Rock United Methodist Church, c/o Jimmy Dixon, 334 Daniel Boone Trail, Henderson, NC27537.
