HENDERSON-Ralph Thomas Blalock, Sr. age 85, a resident of 307 Yowland Road, died Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Granville County on November 18, 1930, he was the son of the late Jean Howard Blalock and Mabel Parrott Blalock.Ralph was retired from the former Laurens Glass Plant.He was a member of West End Baptist Church and the Pullium/Cothran Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph McGowan and the Rev. Tim Burgess.Burial will follow in the New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Rose Nethery Blalock of the home; one daughter,Denise B. Edwards and husband, Billy of Henderson; one son, Ralph Thomas Blalock, Jr. of Henderson; three grandchildren, Leah Rose Edwards, Mary Elizabeth Edwards, Rebekah Lee Edwards; and two sisters, Elizabeth B. Lane and Sally B. Roller of Oxford.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jean Howard Blalock, Jr.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Spott Burwell, Randolph Hunter, Johnny Pernell, Jimmy Fletcher, Tommy Stokes, and Butch Anderson.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be members of the Pullium/Cothran Sunday School Class.
The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Mamie Turner and Mildred Green for their compassionate love and care given to him.
