Raymond Francis Newman

KITTRELL-Raymond Francis Newman, age 92, a resident of 4131 Bobbitt Road, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, at his home.Born in Vance County on May 7, 1919, he was the son of the late William James Newman, Sr. and Delia Daniel Newman.He was a retired tobacco farmer and also retired from Mount Hope Finishing Company.Mr. Newman was a member of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a member of the United Methodist Men and a member of the Senior Circle.He was also a member of the Zeb Vance Ruritan Club.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carolyn Roy, the Rev. William Bud Budzinski, and the Rev. Carol Dean.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Brenda Newman Pelletier of Rocky Mount; four sons, William A. Billy Newman and wife, Betty Ann, Robert M. Bobby Newman and wife, Beverly, Bruce E. Newman and wife, Debra all of Kittrell and Bryce L. Pete Newman and wife, Bessie of Henderson; one sister, Nannie Mae Newman Edmonds of Norlina; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Rainey Newman; his son-in-law, Ray Pelletier, Sr.; and his brothers, Maurice Newman, Edward Newman, his twin, Raeford Newman, Clemens Newman, and W. J. Newman, Jr.; and a great grandchild, Michael David Grover, III.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 4131 Bobbitt Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Randy Rowland, Greg Wheeler, Butch Newman, Mike Rainey, Tommy Frazier, Mike Nicholas, Henry Finch, Daryl Spencer, Kade Spencer, III, and Joe Sears.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be members of the Plank Chapel United Methodist Men and the Zeb Vance Ruritan Club.
